🍱 Char Siu Pork Chop Dinner

with Asian Slaw, Grilled Snap Peas, and White Rice

This one brought that perfect balance — smoky-sweet pork chops off the grill, crisp slaw with a tangy kick, and charred snap peas that still snap. Easy to prep, packs serious flavor, and great for warmer nights when you still want to grill and keep things light.


🥩 Char Siu-Style Grilled Pork Chops

Inspired by Chinese BBQ pork — sticky, sweet, and packed with umami.

Ingredients:
  • 4 bone-in pork chops (¾” to 1” thick)
  • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine or dry sherry (optional)
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp Chinese five spice powder
  • Optional: 1–2 drops red food coloring
Instructions:
  1. Mix all marinade ingredients. Place pork in a resealable bag or dish and coat.
  2. Marinate 4–24 hours in the fridge.
  3. Grill over medium-high heat, 3–5 min per side until 140–145°F internal.
  4. Rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

🥬 Asian Slaw

Crunchy and refreshing — balances out the rich pork perfectly.

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups shredded green or red cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Optional: sesame seeds, chili flakes
Instructions:
  1. Mix vinegar, soy, honey, and sesame oil.
  2. Toss with cabbage, carrots, and green onion.
  3. Chill for 15–30 minutes before serving.

🌿 Grilled Snap Peas

Quick char for a smoky crunch.

Ingredients:
  • 12–16 oz sugar snap peas
  • 1–2 tsp sesame or avocado oil
  • Salt and cracked pepper
  • Optional: splash of soy or citrus, sesame seeds
Instructions:
  1. Toss peas with oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Grill 2–3 min per side over medium-high heat.
  3. Finish with citrus or soy if using.

🍚 Jasmine Rice

Simple and classic.

  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 2 cups water
  • Salt to taste
