Quick dinner tonight… nothing fancy, just one of those simple meals that always hits.
This is straight comfort food — buttery noodles, soft cabbage, sweet onions, and a lot of flavor from just a few basic ingredients.
It’s simple, filling, and the kind of meal that proves you don’t need much to make something good.
Serves
About 4 servings
Ingredients
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 1 head cabbage, thin sliced
- 2 sweet onions, thin sliced
- 1 (12 oz) bag medium egg noodles
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: pinch of sugar if you like it slightly sweet
Instructions
- Melt 1 stick of butter in a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced cabbage and onions.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until everything softens and cooks down. You want the cabbage tender and the onions mellow and sweet.
- While that cooks, boil the egg noodles according to the package directions.
- Drain the noodles and add them directly into the cabbage and onion mixture.
- Add the remaining 1 stick of butter and toss everything together until fully coated.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- If you like it a little sweeter, add a small pinch of sugar and mix again.
