Thinly sliced roast beef simmered in a quick jus, piled onto toasted buns, and finished with a tangy Arby’s-style sauce. A family-friendly copycat made with simple Aldi staples for an easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients (Serves 4–5)
For the sandwiches
- 1 lb thinly sliced deli roast beef (or thinly sliced leftover cooked beef roast)
- 4–5 brioche buns or sesame/kaiser rolls
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce (optional, for extra depth)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
Optional Arby’s-style sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Dash garlic powder
- Dash onion powder
- Dash smoked paprika
Directions
- Make the jus: In a skillet or small pot, combine beef broth, butter, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Warm over medium-low heat until the butter melts and everything is combined.
- Warm the roast beef: Add the sliced roast beef to the pan, gently separating the pieces. Simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes, until the meat is hot and tender. Do not boil.
- Toast the buns: Lightly butter the inside of each bun and toast in a skillet or under the broiler until golden.
- Build the sandwiches: Pile the warm roast beef onto the toasted buns, letting a little of the jus drip over the meat. Add Arby’s-style sauce or your favorite BBQ sauce.
- Serve: Serve immediately with fries, chips, or a side salad. Extra jus can be served on the side for dipping.

Budget Swap Note
For a lower-cost option, use Aldi’s shaved roast beef instead of deli-sliced, or roast your own top round or eye of round and slice it thin once cooled. It’s cheaper per pound and great for meal prep.
